A partnership bringing narratives + language Of Place to our collective consciousness through everyday wearable pieces with a story to share. A celebration of Country, Australian design + First Nations textiles - Of Place is drawn from the land and created through ethical and meaningful production processes responsive to the needs of Country. A range of 4 prints across genders using linen, man-made cellulosics (regenerated/renewable fibres), organic cotton + recycled fibres.

Gaawaa Miyay + Breville
Aboriginal Culinary Journey - an award winning range which celebrates country, food story, relationships, regenerative practice + narratives of place through design and tools for the everyday. Toaster and Toaster Oven designs created by Gaawaa Miyay share stories and insight into traditional ecological knowledges of Northwest New South Wales; firestick farming and native seed cultivation and processing connected with traditions of bread-making and cooking inherently connected to country.

Gaawaa Miyay + Artedomus
Earth Wirri, 2022 features as part of New Volumes Collection 02. A patterned vessel measuring around 600 millimetres in length, based on bark guliman / water carrier - an object which celebrates both tradition and continuity. Etched with the lines of Yuwaalaraay ngurrambaa and handcrafted by Artisans in Italy, this baked earth dish has been created for the home and everyday use. A vessel for display or use created to acknowledge the beauty and sophistication embedded within First Nations design holding stories of time place and relationships.

Gaawaa Miyay + Planex
Planex engaged Lucy Simpson from Gaawaa Miyay to design a range of new locker perforations. The designs “Buunhu” and ”Yuurra-gi” were introduced to the Linea range, and capture a unique sensitivity of place, drawing on Baayangali (the natural world) and balance, commenting on sustainability, connection and belonging. The collaboration brings concepts and visual narratives of place to the built environment, with furniture acting as signposts/ wayfinding systems creating uniquely Australian interiors. The manufacture of the range also importantly implement sustainable practices and longevity, being integral to both Gaawaa Miyay and Planex’s core values.

Gaawaa Miyay + Koskela
Two Gaawaa Miyay prints ‘Dhina’ and ‘Yarraggaa’ feature as part of Koskela’s new First Nations fabric range Dali Dyalgala (the embrace). The range symbolises the coming together of six First Nations female artists from across the country from various language groups. Dali dyalgala is a gesture of reconciliation, to embrace one another and work together to make positive change. This collection of prints and stories is a celebration of beauty diversity and strength long-time (both back and forward).

Gaawaa Miyay + Maara Collective
A collaboration between two Yuwaalaraay yinarr (countrywomen / sisters); Lucy Simpson of Gaawaa Miyay and Julie Shaw of Maara Collective, this collection was created as a celebration of country + relationships, and inspired by the strength / gentleness of baagii + gunimaa (grandmother + mother earth). With motifs that feature the unique double quilled feathers of Dhinawan (emu), these prints adorn and wrap the body echioing the gentle embrace of grandmother / mother / country.
